This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of education settings, including public and independent schools and community education settings, who provide assistance and support to teachers and students under broad-based supervision. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
Career Outcomes
Education Aides perform non-teaching duties to assist teaching staff in schools, provide care and supervision for children in preschools, and provide assistance to Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Maori students and their teachers. You usually need a certificate III or IV in education support, early childhood or school age education and care to work as an Education Aide. Some workers complete a traineeship. The number of people working as Education Aides (in their main job) grew very strongly over 5 years. Full-time workers on an adult wage earn around $1,094 per week (below the average of $1,460). Earnings tend to be lower when starting out and higher as experience grows.
